Gutter installation and repair in Echo Hills, Lewiston

Echo Hills is on Lewiston's west side, on ground that falls toward the Snake River. Of the neighborhoods we profile, it has the highest share of apartments, duplexes, and other multi-unit housing, alongside 1970s-era single-family homes. Lewiston Rain Gutters works on both, with drainage planned around the slope.

The lay of the land

Echo Hills Drive sits at about 910 feet, roughly 170 feet above downtown's Main Street, according to USGS elevation data. The ground around it isn't level. Within about a quarter mile, elevations drop close to 90 feet from east to west, toward the Snake River side of the city.

What that means for your gutters

On a hillside, gutters are only half of the drainage job. Where the downspouts send the water matters as much as how well the gutters catch it, because water on a slope keeps moving until something stops it, often a foundation, a retaining wall, or the house below.

Draining a house on the Echo Hills slope

Because the ground falls to the west, the east side of many houses here is the uphill side. That side catches runoff coming down the yard, so roof water shouldn't be added to it.

  • Route uphill downspouts to the low side with an extension or buried line
  • Use the slope for the outlet: falling ground makes a daylight outlet, where a buried line simply ends at the surface downhill, a practical option
  • Watch retaining walls: water discharged above a wall soaks the soil behind it
  • Think about the lot below: discharge should spread out on your own property before it reaches a neighbor

Apartments, duplexes, and rentals

With more multi-unit housing here than the citywide average, the person arranging gutter work in Echo Hills may be a landlord, property manager, or association rather than a resident. Multi-unit buildings often have long gutter runs over shared entries and walkways, where overflow and winter ice affect every tenant. Those buildings are planned much like our commercial gutter work: access, tenant notice, and keeping water off common areas.

1970s-era single-family homes

For houses in the neighborhood's typical age range, gutters may be original or on a first replacement. When they leak at several joints or overflow even when clean, a seamless gutter replacement sized for the roof is the usual answer. Where trees overhang the roof, regular gutter cleaning keeps the downspouts from backing up.

Echo Hills gutter questions

Do you work on apartment buildings and duplexes in Echo Hills?

Yes. We work on multi-unit buildings as well as single-family homes. Property managers can call to set up a visit, and we plan access around tenants and shared areas.

Water runs down my yard toward the house every time it rains. Will new gutters fix that?

Gutters handle roof water, not water running down the yard from uphill. Good gutters and downspouts keep from adding to it, and routing downspouts to the low side helps. Surface water from uphill may also need grading or yard drainage beyond gutter work.

Is Echo Hills inside your service area?
